If you have many close friends and inviting them will exceed your maximum number of guests, then it is better not to invite them to avoid any hurt feelings. They would understand, knowing only immediate families, and your BFF’s, will be present.

Based on your guest list, set your budget, and make sure to stick to it. Your budget will dictate the entire wedding. Keep in mind that you have control over how much you and your partner are willing to shell out for your big day.

It is not true that the more expensive the wedding, the more beautiful it is. If you and your partner are truly in love, you can get married in your living room and the witnesses will be moved by the atmosphere of genuine love. Therefore, be realistic: How much are you willing to spend? Will your family chip in? After you figure out our budget, work around it.

3. Define the Important Elements

One of the key aspects on how to have a micro wedding is listing down your priorities. Again, you are working within a budget. Which part of the wedding is the most important to you? The venue? The food? The attire?

Are you and your partner fond of music, therefore you want to hire a live band? Perhaps documenting your wedding is another major aspect for you, and you want to hire the best photographer or videographer? Or you and your small group of friends are hearty eaters and food takes precedence over everything? List them down because you would be spending more on your priorities.

This is your wedding– one of the most important events of your life. Don’t resort to styling your wedding based on the current trend. Instead, base your wedding’s theme on you and your partner’s style. A micro wedding should reflect a couple’s personality and should not feel generic or cliche-ish.

If you and your partner have different tastes, then sit down together and compromise to establish the mood and feel of your wedding. Should it be bohemian? Fairytale-like? Are you simple and casual? Formal?  It is important to agree on a theme and vision for your big day that you both love!

Use a planner – whether a traditional or a digital one. This will help you remember your to-do lists and keep track of your schedule of appointments. Even a micro wedding demands plenty of preparation time because you want your wedding to be as stress free as possible, don’t you?

If you and your partner feel overwhelmed by planning your intimate wedding, there is no shame in seeking help. You can seek help from immediate family members, dearest friends or, if you have the budget, you can hire a wedding planner.

In any event, teamwork can do wonders. You’d be surprised by how many people are willing to help a married-couple to be. All you have to do is ask, whether it’s just the little things, like recommending a baker, or a florist, or where to find the best wedding singer.

7. Do You Want an On-Site or an Off-Site Wedding?

An on-site wedding would have less logistical concerns and an in-house event team to guide you. It could be in a hotel, or at a romantic restaurant. This option is practical for many would-be-weds, as everything is almost inclusive; catering, decor, fixed tables and chairs, and other services.

Meanwhile, an off-site wedding is where you will have to transport everything to the venue, as it could be your back yard, a park, the beach, or in the backwoods, or in a barn. Clearly, this is the more challenging option, but can be more dramatic and bolder.

8. Be Mindful of the Food

When it comes to coming up with ways on how to have a micro wedding that will be truly unforgettable, food is on top of the list.

In a micro wedding wherein the guest list will not be extensive, it is very easy to contact your guests and inquire whether or not they have any food restrictions. Ask if they have specific foods that they cannot eat, whether due to religious beliefs or medical reasons. Once you’ve accomplished this, decide on a menu pleasing to all taste buds.

9. Pay Attention to Contracts

Even if it’s a micro wedding, you will probably need to hire a few vendors, which provide products or services that you pay for. Before signing on any contract, make sure you have reviewed every detail to avoid emotional, mental, or financial catastrophe.

Tips: be wary of contracts that seem to favor only the vendor or have absurd cancelation policies. Every pertinent detail should be written in black and white, complete, and accurate. Do not be shy in expressing your doubts and, most importantly, do not withhold from asking a lot of questions.

10. Relax, Avoid Stress, and Be Flexible

How to have a micro wedding is fairly easy when you know in your heart what you want. You are planning a joyous day to celebrate your love, so smile, relax, and avoid stressing yourself out. If you’re tired, take a break. Make sure you get enough shut eye, nutrition, and exercise.

No matter how well-planned your wedding is, some things may still not be in your control. You have to be flexible and adapt to any changes that may happen. So, don’t obsess over the smallest details as no one else will know except you if there are any unexpected hiccups. Your wedding is most importantly a day of love and commitment.
